ST. PAUL’S CATHEDRAL Designed by Christopher Wren, with its spectacular dome and majestic interior. Enjoy the Galleries upstairs and a superb view of London. THE TOWER OF LONDON This 900-year old castle was once a palace, fortress and prison. See the Bloody Tower, Traitor’s Gate, Armoury Gallery, Crown Jewels and Beefeaters. BUCKINGHAM PALACE Visit the London Home of the Royal Family since Queen Victoria’s reign in 1837. Enjoy the magnificence of the State Rooms, the Bow Room and Palace Gardens. WESTMINSTER ABBEY A magnificent medieval church, the burial site of monarchs since it was consecrated in 1065. With poets corner, the cloisters and chapel of Henry VII. MONUMENT AND TOWER BRIDGE Walk up this Doric column, designed by Christopher Wren, to commemorate The Great Fire of London in 1666. Tower Bridge, with its lively exhibition, explaining the building and operation of London’s most famous landmark. SOMERSET HOUSE AND THE COURTAULD GALLERY The Courtauld Gallery, one of the finest collections of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings is housed in Somerset House. Designed by William Chambers in the 18th century with over 1000 rooms, a paved courtyard with cafes, shops, fountains and sculptures. THE ROYAL FESTIVAL HALL Built to commemorate the end of the second World War in 1951 the Royal Festival Hall houses a bookshop, music shop, bar and hosts some fantastic Jazz bands. KEW GARDENS Relax in the peace of these famous botanical gardens. Visit the huge greenhouses, including the Orangery and the Palm House, and walk through the gardens with their beautiful trees, strange plants and Pagoda. LONDON ZOO AND CAMDEN TOWN Using the ‘Waterbus’, travel from Little Venice to Regent’s Park and London Zoo, then on to Camden Town Market. Return by underground. MADAM TUSSAUD’S AND THE PLANETARIUM Waxworks of the famous and infamous with ‘The Spirit of London’ taxi ride. Plus enjoy stargazing in the Planetarium with stars spectacularly projected onto a domed roof. HAMPTON COURT PALACE One of the most popular homes of the Kings and Queens of England, from Henry VIII to William and Mary. See the Great Hall, the Kitchens, the Queen’s Rooms, the King’s Rooms, plus the famous maze and gardens. WINDSOR Windsor Castle - a Royal Residence for over 900 years. Entrance includes a visit to the Queen’s Doll’s House. Tour the castle, then visit the museums and shops and explore the lovely village of Eton. GREENWICH BY BOAT Take a guided boat trip down the Thames to Greenwich, seeing all of London’s most famous riverside sites. Visit the Royal Observatory, The National Maritime Museum and Greenwich Market. RIVERBOAT EXCURSION TO RICHMOND Take a 2 and a 1/2-hour boat cruise along the Thames, from Westminster to Richmond, following the Royal Barge Route of King Henry VIII and other monarchs. On arrival visit Richmond Museum and see the deer at Richmond Park. |
