Your Free Time in London

A social programme is organised each month by the Social Co-ordinator, Steve Darwen. The programme is run with a team of of teachers and helps you get to know other students and members of staff and enjoy the culture and entertainment of London and Britain. Some of the activities are free and others cost between £ 2.50 and £ 27, depending on the activity.

This Month's Social Programme

A wide variety of activities are included on the programme to suit all interests. These include...

Trips

Day Trips to some of the most popular cities in the UK. Regular ‘Weekend Trips Abroad’ are also organised during the summer and on request. There are a number of excursions to the Major London Attractions. You can also visit the very best of London’s Museums and Galleries.

Walks

London Walks are regular events.

Videos

‘Videos’ are shown in the afternoon at our Gloucester Road centre each week.

Night Life

There are ‘Nights Out’ at a popular London club or disco and an ‘International Student Party’ each month. Take advantage of London’s nightlife; although the last underground is at approximately 12 midnight, London stays open throughout the night. There are regular night buses from Trafalgar Square to take you to most parts of London.

Theatre

‘Theatre Nights Out’ can be organised for a group, or the Social Co-ordinator can give advice on any of the current shows and arrange reservations for afternoon (matinee) or evening performances. Should you wish to make last minute reservations for the same day then there is an official ticket booth, which operates from Leicester Square.

Shopping

We also make regular visits to some well-known ‘shopping centres’ in the capital, traditional London markets and occasionally larger shopping complexes.

Cultural Events

Throughout the year there are some interesting cultural events such as ‘Bonfire Night’, ‘Harvest Festival’ celebrations, the annual ‘Great British Beer Festival’ the ‘Lord Mayor’s Show’, ‘The Festival of Lights’, the Bear Garden ‘Latin American Parties’ and the new ‘Regent Street’ party.

Sports

The school also organises regular in-house football matches during the summer months and the Co-ordinator is always keen to include other team sports should there be a request for anything.

A lot more information about all the events on the Social Programme is available at the school. Should you need any further advice on the events, trips in and outside the UK and other activities of interest to you, please do not hesitate to contact Steve Darwen steved@francesking.co.uk

We hope you will enjoy your stay in London, one of the most vibrant capitals in the world!
